During this unit we looked at different types of art, listened to different types of music, and read many fables, folktales and poetry books. We were able to see and compare the different forms of expression. To celebrate our hard work, we took a trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We were so excited to see the exhibits after learning about so many different musicians. Sadly, we will always remember that Prince passed away during this unit of inquiry. We enjoyed seeing his exhibit and singing some of the words to, Purple Rain together.
Next year, in third grade, we will explore how people can use expression to take action and change the world. Ending our unit with our Red Noses was a great way to lead into this...wearing something so silly actually was our way of using expression to make the world a better place.
Thank you to all who purchased noses for our class. We were happy to know that our small action helped to improve the lives of other children.

Flowers smell like honey mixed with sugar so good.
It really does, when you touch it, it feels like crunchy leaves.
You can hear seeds sprouting just like you.
They look so unique and so beautiful,
JUST
LIKE
YOU!!

The cactus is green with white speckle spots.
It smells like paint… it does!
It is as hard as a rock.
It sure is!
And that cactus, I love it too!
Just for you!

MAGNETS ARE LIKE PEOPLE GETTING MARRIED. BECAUSE WHEN THEY STICK TOGETHER IT IS POSITIVE AND IT IS LIKE THE BRIDE AND GROOM ARE BOTH SAYING “I DO.” AND THEN WHEN THE MAGNETS ARE NEGATIVE IT IS LIKE THE BRIDE IS SAYING “I CAN’T DO THIS I AM SORRY. AND THAT IS WHAT I THINK OF MAGNETS, AMEN!

Picnics at Mather Mansion are always so much fun!!
I thought it was hilarious that they used the word "evidence." Think I made them "prove it" enough this year?
