In math, we are learning the steps to solving word problems. Reading our word problems twice, helps us to make sense of the problem. Drawing a picture and writing an equation helps us set up for structure so that we can solve accurately. We know that we have to do all of these steps in order to get a 4 out of 4 in our math journal.

In writing, we began our unit on Narrative Writing. We love sharing our personal stories. We were very excited when we received our Tiny Topics notepads! We are living our lives as writers!! Carrying these around, helps us to reflect and think about all the small moments we have in a day.

Tiny Topics Notepads
We carry these around with us to record topics that we can turn into "Small Moments" for narrative writing.

After we choose a Tiny Topic to turn into a Small Moment for our narrative writing, we think about ways to can bring our stories to life! We want to pull the reader in, and make them feel as if they were right there in the moment with us.

In reading, we began using our schema to connect with our new learning and ask more questions. We found that sometimes as we are reading, our new questions are answered. But sometimes, they are not. These are our lingering questions. What can we do about them?
We decided that these questions can be answered through discussions with others, reading more books about that topic, conduction a SOLE (https://www.solecle.com/#/welcome), with a group of friends, or through independent research. We have so many ways to find answers to our questions.
