We were so lucky that while learning about life cycles, we were able to see baby chicks the day after they hatched! Thanks to Claire's mom who is also a teacher and brought in the chicks from her class.
We are ending our last unit for the year, Sharing the Planet, by researching pollution problems and ways we can responsibly take better care of Earth. Students were inspired by the students in 5th and 6th grade who are working on their exhibition projects. They decided they wanted to use presentation boards....and took it upon themselves to buy or make their boards! That's called being an enthusiastic learner! We will share our boards at our book release celebration.
Also during May, we decided to come up with our own homework. We chose to read magazines and respond anyway we wanted. The only requirement was that we had to connect what we read to our unit of inquiry.
